The Puerto Rico project consisted of Caro Walnut and epoxy resin. The red colored pigment called Dragons Breath really makes this piece stand out. The client commissioned me to create this project because this is where she met her now husband and fell in love. She requested that both cities they are originally from be marked on the piece. The design on the bottom features the Eleutherodactylus Coqui, a native frog and Puerto Rico's national animal. I created a rendition of this national symbol using the Computer Numerical Control (CNC) router program. Additionally, I used the wood cutoffs and extra epoxy, from the project, to create the mini butcher knife and coasters, which added a unique touch to the project.
Using my favorite lumber, Curly Maple Burl, I created the Alaska project. The Computer Numerical Control (CNC) router was used to program and cut out the silhouette of Alaska, which was then sealed with clear epoxy resin and placed in an High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) round mold. The Deep Sea Blue epoxy resin was used to surround the silhouette, resulting in a beautiful piece that perfectly captures the colors and currents of the Alaskan water.
